Mechwarrior

What ever happened to the BattleTech and MechWarrior universes? I grew up on these role playing games, video games, books, and art series. There was a time for about two years after D&D, Dragonlance, Magic the Gathering, and Marvel Super Heroes gaming sessions were fading in interest, and before our White Wolf Vampire Masquerade days, that my small gaming group went into the BattleTech worlds full force.

We went to a few conventions, bought all the source material, and even constructed our own table-top RPG game based off alot of elements from it’s Canon. Heck, I still even own a whole slew of maps and miniatures from those good times.

I was surfing around today and for some odd reason saw a link to MechWarrior 3 on the PC. Oh, man what a game. It had all the realism, proper load-outs, armor placements and weight that a MechWarrior game should have. MechWarrior 4 and Mech Assault were also good games, but to me nothing tops MW3 as the best true reflection of the tabletop games. It stands as one of the best simulation Mech games of all time, right next to Steel Battalion.

After viewing such an amazing, goose bump inducing nostalgia fest, I did more searching. Guess what? There is a team producing a MechWarrior game using the Crisis (Crytek) engine. It’s called MechWarrior: Living Legends. Looks like it still has a long way to go, but I’m crossing my fingers. You can follow the link to read more about it. It has been over 6 yrs since anything MechWarrior/BattleTech has been produced, and there are over 25million worldwide fans. I don’t understand how or why any company could let such a valuable property sit and rot. Which as of last I knew Microsoft owns it. But I also heard that the old team of FASA (Original creators of BT & MW) have a new name now and have/will/are going to get the rights back soon.

This bares more investigation!

Oh and… Jade Falcon was my Clan. Summoner / Thor my mech of choice. If I had to go Inner Sphere it was House Davion all the way with either a Griffin or Marauder to stomp people with.

Cardinals NCF Game – Tomorrow

Cannot wait. The family and friends are all coming over the house tomorrow for food and fun and drinks. Should be a slam jamming good time.

It’s incredible to see my Cardinals Football team to be hosting the NFL NFC Championship. Let alone even be past the first round of the playoffs. I’ve been a fan since they first moved here, and the ironic thing is, I was actually a Eagles Fan before the Cardinals came into town.

My favorite Eagle player at the time was an awesome quarterback who went by the name of Cunningham.

Even better is I used to run the QB sneak play over and over again on Madden Video Football during those years. Cunningham was unstoppable.

Anyways, all that aside. I changed over to the good guys (Cardinals) when they came into town, and have suffered with the few fans that remain year after year, defeat after defeat. Hell, our most exciting playoff game was a 1st round win against the Cowboys. So to see them here, on the edge of a possible Superbowl birth, feels like a dream!

Brandon’s Space – 1up

Sucks to know that 1up.com has canned a good majority of the staff there. I’ll miss my Weekend “Confirmed” 1up Yours Podcast. No matter how I would be feeling any particular day I could always count on that podcast to give me a few hours of peace and comedy. Hearing the crew talk about one of my favorite hobbies and not having to think about anything else in life.

As they say all good things must come to an end. So good bye guys. The ride was fun while it lasted, and wherever you land good luck and safe journey.
